Abstract
The varied sequelae of severe head-injury necessitate a variety of rehabilitation
measures. These are shown, using the example of the work of a neurological rehabilitation
hospital. Apart from doctors and nurses, the therapeutic team of a rehabilitation
clinic must comprise physiotherapists, craft therapists, speech therapists, clinical
psychologists, curative and social teachers, social workers and "special-school" teachers.
After a thorough psychological and neurological examination to establish the rehabilitation-potential
remaining, the doctor, together with the parents and therapists, must make an individual
rehabilitation-plan, co-ordinating the measures in a reasonable fashion. A long-term,
systematic after-care can greatly improve the medical prognosis and social reinstatement
of the child who has suffered severe head injury.
Zusammenfassung
Die unterschiedlichen Verletzungsfolgen nach schwerem Schädel-Hirn-Trauma bedingen
vielfältige Rehabilitationsmaßnahmen, die am Beispiel der Arbeit eines Neurologischen
Rehabilitationskrankenhauses dargestellt werden. Neben Ärzten und Pflegepersonal muß
das therapeutische Team einer Rehabilitationsklinik aus Krankengymnasten, Ergotherapeuten,
Logopäden, klinischen Psychologen, Heilpädagogen/Sozialpädagogen, Sozialarbeitern
und Sonderschullehrern bestehen. Nach ausführlicher neurologischer und psychologischer
Diagnostik muß - unter Berücksichtigung des verbliebenen Rehabilitationspotentials
- vom Arzt mit Eltern und Therapeuten der individuelle Rehabilitationsplan besprochen
werden, die Maßnahmen müssen sinnvoll koordiniert werden. Durch eine langfristige
konsequente Nachbehandlung kann die medizinische Prognose und die soziale Eingliederung
des Kindes nach schwerem Schädel-Hirn-Trauma verbessert werden.
